Recent developments on the numerical simulations of turbulent and of complex and multiphase flows have been presented. The goal of the conference was to insist on applications. The conference and the spring/summer course followed the very successful event on Topics in Fluid Mechanics organized by the Czech Pilot center in February 2004 in Prague, as well as the series of events and courses organized by the SIG 14 of ERCOFTAC at the Campus Universitari de la Mediterrania in Vilanova I la Geltru (Barcelona). The conference was opened to advanced researchers in the subject, but the students had a chance of presenting their own work to a specialized audience as well as following the more basic lectures.
Several introduction talks was also programmed that have been attended by master students starting to work in the subject. The introduction talks will be validated as courses of the Université de Toulon-Var and Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya as 3 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System).
(see http://europa.eu.int/comm/education/programmes/socrates/ects_en.html ).

The advanced talks were given in the afternoon by advanced researchers in the subject. The scientific committee selected them after a review. The final contributions will be published in a special issue in the Journal of Flow, Turbulence and Combustion.
The students participating to the conference presented posters. An academic committee before delivering the 3 ECTS will give marks to the posters, according to their scientific qualities.
The final paper must be written in standard LateX article format (please avoid special LateX packages) and converted to pdf. The final contribution to be submitted to Journal of Flow, Turbulence and Combustion must follow the guidelines of the journal . The pdf files have to be sent to helluy@univ-tln.fr before 24th june 2005.
